Old choir needs new members

Birmingham's oldest male voice choir is recruiting new singers to perform everything from Bohemian Rhapsody to classic James Bond themes.

Icknield Male Voice Choir is over 100 years old and has survived and grown by being forward thinking, welcoming and integrating with modern and traditional music tastes.

We have more than 50 members of all ages and from all walks of life and we're looking for new blood.

We enjoy singing aΜύ range of music, from Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen), My Heart Will Go On (Titanic), Beatles numbers, James Bond film themes, Love is All Around (Four Weddings and a Funeral) to traditional male voice choir numbers.

The rehearsals room is situated in the grounds of St. Chad's RC Cathedral with free, safe parking via an entrance on Shadwell Street and we probably have members living fairly near to you, so a lift in would be no problem.Μύ

Bus stops are very close with pedestrian access as depicted on the map.

Ages range from 18-81 with most aged 40-60.ΜύChoir jackets are supplied when you feel ready for concert performances (no pressure!).Μύ

You don't need to be able to read music and full training is supportively given within your vocal range.ΜύWe're very supportive of each other and any newcomers are warmly welcomed and assisted, not only by our Musical Director, Steve Roche, but by all choir members who remember exactly what it was like to start fresh!

We're also an extremely sociable group, with away trips to Ireland and further afield already under our belts as well as regular golfing and other social functions. We like a drink after rehearsals too!

So, you are cordially invited to attend rehearsals whenever you can: just listen, learn and join in anytime you want and you'll be given advice and support by those around you. No trials, just enjoy!
