Â鶹ԼÅÄ WM are campaigning for safer roads in the West Midlands, in the week starting Monday April 14th 2008.

3 people an hour are injured on the roads

3 people an hour are injured on UK roads

The equivalent of 16 planeloads of passengers are killed on Britain's roads each year.

In the UK, in 2006, 3,172 people were killed on the roads. In the West Midlands, in 2006, 1,142 people, including 189 children, were killed or seriously injured in road accidents.

Â鶹ԼÅÄ WM's Drive to stay Alive campaign aims to raise awareness of the four mainÌý causes of death and injury on the roads.

• Excessive speed
• Drink driving
• Use of mobile phones whilst driving
• The non-use of seat belts

Monday 14th April 2008

Â鶹ԼÅÄ WM's Drive to stay Alive campaign launches on the Breakfast show, with Phil Upton (from 6.30am). Phil will be asking whether the driving test should be harder,Ìýand speaking to victims, their families and experts.

On Â鶹ԼÅÄ WM's Ed Doolan show (from 10am) - they're outÌýwith the police seeing just how good West Midlands drivers are.

Tuesday 15th April

On the Breakfast show, with Phil Upton: The parents of a teenager who died just months after passing his test will be speaking to Phil.

On the Ed Doolan show: It's the big speed debate.ÌýShould we have more speed cameras?ÌýShould we have limiters on cars?ÌýHave your say.

On the Drivetime show, with Paul Franks: Franksy takes a spin with the motorbike cops, and finds out why so called "born again" bikers are at such high risk of death and injury.

Wednesday 16th April

On the Breakfast show, with Phil Upton:Ìý Â鶹ԼÅÄ WM reveal the device that won't let your car start if you've had a drink.

On the Ed Doolan show: The big debate - should we outlaw drinking and driving?Ìý Ed asks if it's time for zero tolerance.

Thursday 17th April

On the Breakfast show, with Phil Upton:ÌýThousands of West Midlands drivers don't belt up - we're out spotting them, and asking what can be done to change attitudes.Ìý

On the Ed Doolan show: Are you confused about children and seatbelts?ÌýDo you know how tall your children and grandchildren should be before they stop using one?ÌýEd explains all.

Friday 18th April

It's the drive off!ÌýPhil and Franksy go head to head to see who's the better driver.
