This June marks 150 years since the birth of the Midlands' most famous composer and conductor Adrian Lucas will lead the choir and orchestra through a range of Elgar's greatest works.

The concert will culminate with one of his most famous pieces - The Music Makers - which was first performed in the Town Hall at the 1912 Birmingham Festival. They gave a rousing rendition of the composer's legendary Pomp and Circumstance (often referred to as Land of Hope and Glory) for the 28,000 strong in attendance at The Molineux. Elgar himself was a huge Wolves fan. No doubt he would have been singing along with the other fans had he been there for the game. |
