Clip submission terms

Submitting your videos for #thebignightin #BigNightInAmarillo and #bignightspin

  1. If you are under 18 then please get your parent or guardian's permission before sharing your video on social media including, but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. If you are under 18 and submit a video, if we want to use it we will get in touch with you and ask you to provide your parent or guardian’s email address and phone number so that we can check with them that you have their consent to share your video. If there is a group of you in the video we want to use then we will need to contact a parent or guardian for each person in the video who is under 18.
  2. If you want to tell us about yourself in your video, please only include your first name and the town that you live in. If you include any more personal information than this then unfortunately we may not be able to use your video.
  3. Please film your videos in landscape on your phone or other recording device so that we can use them on television.
  4. A selection of the videos submitted may be featured on the Big Night In, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ’s, Comic Relief and/or Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children in Need’s social media accounts (including YouTube) and/or the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, Comic Relief and/or Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children in Need’s website. No correspondence will be entered into in respect of any contribution. You understand and agree that you won’t be paid for your contribution.
  5. No obscene, indecent or in any other way offensive content will be considered.
  6. By sharing any contribution (including any text, photographs, graphics, video or audio) with the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ using the hashtags #myamarillo and #bignightspin agree to grant to the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, Comic Relief, and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children in Need free of charge, permission to use the material in any way each of them wants (including modifying and adapting it for operational and editorial reasons) in any media worldwide for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ services (including on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's site accessed by international users), for Comic Relief’s purposes and for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children in Need’s purposes in perpetuity (forever).
  7. Copyright in your contribution will remain with you and this permission is not exclusive, so you can continue to use the material in any way including allowing others to use it. 
  8. In order that the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, Comic Relief and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children in Need can use your contribution, you confirm that your contribution is your own original work, is not defamatory and does not infringe any copyright or UK laws, that you have the right to give the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, Comic Relief and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children in Need permission to use it for the purposes specified above, and that you have the consent of anyone who is identifiable in your contribution (or the consent of their parent / guardian if they are under 18) to you submitting the video of them to us. 
  9. For the videos, we sometimes show your first name with your contribution, unless you request otherwise, but for operational reasons this is not always possible. The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, Comic Relief and/or Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children in Need may need to contact you for administrative or verification purposes in relation to your contribution, or in relation to particular projects. The details you send us will not be used for anything other than this promotion. For details on how we may contact you or handle your data please see Privacy Statement below.
  10. Please do not endanger yourself or others, take any unnecessary risks or break any laws when creating content you may share with the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ.
  11. If you are creating content for the #bignightspin please ensure that you do so outside, on your property and using a large, level grassed space with no people, trip hazards or breakable objects in the way and no risk of hurting yourself if you fall over. Please only undertake this challenge if you are fit and well to do so. It is not advisable to attempt this challenge while under the influence of alcohol. 
  12. Please ensure that, when creating and filming your contribution, you comply with current government coronavirus guidance which can be found at: .
  13. You agree that neither the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, Comic Relief or Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children in Need will be liable to You for any personal injury or property damage You suffer when you’re providing the contribution, unless such injury/damage is caused directly by the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, Comic Relief or Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children in Need’s negligence.
  14. If you do not want to grant the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, Comic Relief or Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children in Need the permission set out above on these terms, please do not send us your video. We do not guarantee that we will use your submission.

Privacy Statements

The Big Night In is produced by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Studios. We are responsible for handling personal data you provide, including your contribution, in accordance with data protection law. We have a legitimate interest in using your contribution and associated personal data, such as your name and location, for journalistic, artistic and literary purposes. We intend to keep your contribution in perpetuity. If your contribution is not used, we will delete your personal data after broadcast of the programme.

We will ask you to provide us with the contact details of the parent/guardian of anyone under 18 that appears in your contribution (including you). This will enable us to verify with the relevant parent/guardian that they consent to their child’s personal data being given to us. We will use their contact details for this purpose only.

We may pass your videos and your personal details to Comic Relief and/or Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children in Need so that they use your video and can contact you in relation to your video in the ways set out above if they need to. When we do this, Comic Relief and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children in Need each become data controllers in respect of your personal information.

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children in Need 

The personal information we collect will be the information information provided to us by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Studios, you and any information in your contribution. Depending on the nature of your contribution it may include certain special categories of more sensitive personal information about you (such as health, disability, ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation, family circumstances and could include criminal convictions where relevant).

Your personal information will be used in relation to your contribution including storing, editing and publicising your contribution. The ultimate aim is to use your contribution and our journalism around it to help raise awareness and raise funds for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children in Need. Once collected we may share the information in the following ways: Print: Newspapers and magazines, Online: Social Media channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram), YouTube and our websites, Promotional materials: such as posters for fundraising events and leaflets asking people to donate, Emails to supporters: such as monthly newsletters and general updates on our work. The legal basis on which we process your personal information varies.

Sometimes it is in our legitimate interests to do so for fundraising purposes, sometimes we have a legitimate interests in using your personal information for journalistic purposes (in each case and we don’t believe this unreasonably impacts your rights and freedoms) and in some limited circumstances we may check with you that our proposed use of it is ok with you first. We will retain your information in accordance with our retention policy an extract of which is available on request. Your special category personal information and criminal convictions data (if relevant) is stored in accordance with our highest security standards and will be processed in accordance with Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children in Need’s Special Category and Criminal Convictions Data Policy which is available on request.

Comic Relief

This Privacy Notice explains what personal data Comic Relief collects and what happens to it. You may provide personal data when providing your contribution including your name, email address and postal address (for example on a consent form or in correspondence) and your image, voice, photos, views of your property and other information that identifies you (contained in your contribution).

You might also choose to share with us special category data relating to you such as race or ethnicity, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, health, sex life or sexual orientation, genetics or biometrics, criminal offences and criminal convictions.

We may use and share your personal data for our charitable purposes, including to raise money for, and awareness of, Comic Relief and the projects it funds. This may include filming, producing, broadcasting, publicising and commercialising (i.e. generating money from) your contribution and distributing your contribution to our funded partners. This could be in any media including (but not limited to) TV, radio, print (such as newspapers and magazines), social media platforms and online generally, promotional materials (such as fundraising materials) and emails to supporters and followers.

Comic Relief Limited and/or Charity Projects is the "data controller" and decides how your personal data is used (i.e. processed). The legal basis we process your personal data on varies. It can be our legitimate interest for our charitable or journalistic purposes (where, on balance, this processing is not disproportionate to your rights and freedoms and any impact this processing may have on you) or consent where we specifically ask for this.

We retain your contribution in line with our data retention policies (available on request). If you are the parent or guardian of a contributor aged 17 years old or under please make sure that you explain to them what will happen to their personal data.
