Kompas.com is part of Kompas Gramedia, a media group that runs TV outlet, newspapers, and many online news platforms. They are the franchisee of a number of big brands in Indonesia, including National Geographic.

With the first content published in 1995 as 'Kompas Online' (online version for Kompas newspaper), Kompas.com is one of the online media pioneers in Indonesia.
