Kicking off with the African Giant himself, Nigeria’s very own Burna Boy. 2020 saw him release his new album, ‘Twice As Tall’, following the success of 2019’s ‘Africa Giant’. Burna didn’t come to play with his headlining set – complete with full band and his amazing backing singer - and featured singles, 'Way Too Big' and â€˜Real Life’ - as well as his classic, ’Ye’.

2. Chloe x Halle

Chloe x Halle

Taking a quick hop stateside - to the West Coast of America to be precise -  we were treated to the eclectic and soulful vibes of sister act, Chloe x Halle. Co-signed by none other than the queen herself Beyoncé, the total package duo who not only sing and act but also play a variety of instruments blessed the virtual 1Xtra Live stage with songs including 'Do It' and 'Ungodly Hour'. Hurry up already and come over girls!

3. Jacquees

Staying stateside for a hot minute, we caught up with the self-proclaimed king of R&B himself, Georgia-native, Jacquees. Not one to take that title lightly, 'Quees kicked off his set with a soulful rendition of his top-charting single, 'Your Peace' and segued into tracks including 'B.E.D' and 'You'. Do your thing 'Quees, do your thing.

4. Tiwa Savage

Tiwa Savage

Buckle your seatbelts, we're heading to the Motherland - to Lagos, Nigeria to be exact - to see our queen of Afrobeats, Tiwa Savage perform. Set against the backdrop of an amazing Lagos marketplace, Ms Savage performed tracks from across her career including 'All Over', '49-99' and 'Koroba' reminding us that Africa truly is the birthplace of music.

5. Loski

We're back in the UK now and all eyes are on the soon-to-blow, South London rapper, Loski. Hailing from the ever growing, Drill genre, the anticipation is high for the rapper's forthcoming debut album, 'Music, Trial and Trauma: A Drill story' - not one to disappoint'; his set, featuring tracks like 'Daily Duppy' and 'Cool Kid' showed us one of the many reasons why Black British music is so strong.

6. Shaybo

Shaybo

The queen of the South, 1Xtra's Hot For 2020 rapper Shaybo graced us with her infectious energy for her debut 1Xtra Live set. Complete with her DJ Remi Burgz, Shaybo shelled down her set with 'Anger' and repping hard for all the Nigerians around the world 'Dobale'.

7. Ghetts

Last, but by no means least, it's grime godfather, East London's very own Ghetts. A true pioneer in the genre that has spanned nearly two decades, the don gave a lesson in the art and evolution of grime as a Black British music genre that has gone global. Performing tracks such as 'Titch' plus critically-acclaimed 'Mozambique' and 'IC3' featuring fellow grime godfather himself, North London's Skepta, the duo reminded us that grime is here to stay.
