Valerie Irwin produced nearly 3,000 drawings of the demolition of Cranfield's Flour Mill, from 2005-2006.In 2005 Valerie Irwin, a local Ipswich artist, took her sketchbook to Ipswich Marina and began to draw the demolition work going on there. Working in charcoal and on-site in all weathers, there were constant changes to inspire her work. For the next two years she would focus her attention on one of the most significant buildings on the docks- Cranfield's Flour Mill. Irwin produced a wealth of detailed, measured drawings, studies and action sketches. They are not a detached documentation of the demolition, but rather her response to what was happening there. The work is comprised of 2,900 A2 drawings and twenty-two A4 sketch books.

In 2008 the museum service acquired 39 charcoal drawings in recognition of this significant project.
