Jim Rodgers worked as an engineer for the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ where he designed the famous Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ LS3/5A bookshelf speaker.
The 1970s saw the rise of home entertainment from the record deck to hi-fi (high fidelity) and British designed amplifiers, speakers and turntables became the envy of the world.
In 1977 Jim Rodgers designed the JR149, based upon the reknown LA3/5A encased in a heavy gauge aluminium cylinder with wooden end caps.
Jim Rodgers went onto design a super woofer to extend the base down to 30Hz and larger model, the JR150.
The speaker shown here is without the ribbed foam cover. This is the earlier model puchased in 1978. The Mark II model was current in 1983.
The JR149 are among the most attractive speakers ever made. When matched with the right amplifier few speakers of these dimensions out perform them and none are more acceptable in a modern living room.

omg i used to make these and the woofer but think there is the 152 missing from all the history
I was managing Director of Swisstone Electronics Limited from 1976 until 1982, the manufacturers of the Rogers LS3/5A after Jim Rogers' company, Rogers Developments Limited, went into receivership.
The above information is incorrect. Jim Rogers never worked for the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, nor did he have any involvement in the design of the LS3/5A.

The title of the post is incorrect, as this is a variant of the LS3/5a not LS5/3a. If admin can sort that out, then I will go on to say, a lovely speaker!.
