Roles & Responsibilities

  • Morwen Williams is Director of Media Operations for the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, leading all the operational field, base and studio teams for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ News, Audio, Sports News, Editing and more – a team of more than 950 people.
  • She is responsible for studios in London, Salford’s MediaCityUK and Birmingham, tv and radio OB teams and crews across many bases in the UK.

Biography

Previously Morwen was :

  • Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ News’s Director of UK Operations and Head of Newsgathering after switching from journalism to Operations roles.
  • Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ News Deputy UK Editor, leading on major special events in the UK and co-ordinating Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ News planning of stories.
  • Deputy editor, output editor and producer in Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ regions in London and Manchester, having started as a researcher on Newsroom South East in 1989.
  • Started her journalism career on local newspapers in Croydon after graduating from City University School of Journalism and Newcastle University.

Morwen is also :

  • chair of the WBU (World Broadcasting Union) International Media Connectivity Group, working with other broadcasters to find common solutions in this area.
  • represents the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ on the EBU (European Broadcasting Union) News Committee.
  • a fellow of the Media Transformation Challenge at Harvard University’s Kennedy School.
  • a former mentor for RISE Women in Broadcasting (she was RISE inaugural Woman of the Year in 2019) and a Senior fellow of the John Schofield Trust for young journalists.

Expenses and central bookings

Expenses are costs incurred by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ staff on behalf of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ and claimed through the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's expenses system.

Central bookings are costs incurred on behalf of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ and booked through the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's central bookings system. Both expenses and central bookings are published every three months.

Declaration of personal interests

Staff must make a declaration of their personal and business interests, including any memberships or directorships of public or industry bodies, and any shareholdings, as well as any interests that their immediate families may also have.

A summary is published where there is something to declare and where there is nothing to declare. Occasionally an individual will have something to declare but due to the personal nature of the declaration we do not publish details as to do so would breach the General Data Protection Regulation.

This information is published annually, although if any amendments are made during the year an updated summary will be published if necessary as soon as it is available.
