Roles and responsibilities
- The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ is the UK’s largest generator of original British scripted comedy. It nurtures and develops brand new comedy voices and collaborates with the most established household names.
- Jon is responsible for leading this genre, setting the strategy and commissioning shows across Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ iPlayer and TV channels.
- Jon oversees of a range of comedies for all audiences from pioneering and distinctive shows such as Here We Go, Black Ops, The Young Offenders, The Outlaws, Am I Being Unreasonable, Motherland, Two Doors Down, Man Like Mobeen, There She Goes, Inside No.9, This Country, The Power of Parker, Such Brave Girls, Dreaming Whilst Black, Jerk, and Juice through to mainstream family favourites including Ghosts, Mrs Brown’s Boys, Not Going Out and Gavin and Stacey.
Biography
Jon was appointed the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ’s Director of Comedy in September 2021.
He joined the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ from Netflix-invested indie, Broke and Bones, owned by Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones, where he was Head of Comedy. Previously he was Comedy Commissioning Editor at Channel 4 where he oversaw The Windsors, Friday Night Dinner and Dead Pixels.
Jon started his career at Talkback Productions, before moving to Roughcut Television, making internet comedy shorts for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Comedy (including cult hit Misery Bear). He went on to nurture a portfolio of new wave talent for television, including Anna and Katy (C4), Bafta and RTS winning Stath Lets Flats (C4) and all five series of the Bafta and RTS winning People Just Do Nothing, executive producing from series 4. In 2018 he oversaw People Just Do Nothing USA (Amazon) and in 2019 worked with Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Films on the feature film People Just Do Nothing: Big In Japan.

Expenses are costs incurred by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ staff on behalf of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ and claimed through the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's expenses system.
Central bookings are costs incurred on behalf of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ and booked through the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's central bookings system. Both expenses and central bookings are published every three months.
