Radio Wales Commissioning

Radio Wales in a nutshell…

Many of you pitch to us year in, year out, and we’d be delighted to see your ideas again. But every year, we’re always pleased to see new companies and individuals pitching for the first time. If you are new to us, this is what you need to know about Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Wales. We’re the national station for Wales, creating radio that sits at the heart of Welsh life.

Our core audience is 45-64. What matters to them matters to us. We love to hear from our listeners and interact with them.

We want to reflect Wales back to our audience – with warmth, passion and insight. We want to entertain, educate and inform. We’re committed to growing our reach and shifting perceptions.

And we aim to attract our audience by providing:

  • News: Outstanding journalism, which really matters, with scrutiny, analysis, information, current affairs - all from a Welsh perspective.
  • Sporting Drama: Reflecting the moments that bring us together, shape our identity, stir our emotions.
  • The National Conversation: Supporting the national conversation through speech-led content with edge, distinctive, reflection, authentic, humour and substance.
  • In-depth documentaries: A chance to deep-dive into untold stories and compelling narratives.
  • New ways to listen: We’re fully committed to growing our audience on digital platforms through brilliant podcasts, boxsets and crossover content.
